Dr Ruth Williams
I am a Consultant Paediatric Neurologist with Special Interests in Epilepsy and Neurodegenerative diseases. I have worked at The Evelina Children’s Hospital, which is part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London, since 2003, following training in Nottingham, Birmingham, Bath and Great Ormond Street. I am Medical Advisor to the Batten Disease Family Association.
The ketogenic diet service for Children with Epilepsy at Evelina Children’s Hospital was re-established in 2005 with support from Paediatric Dietitians Mary-Anne and Tara, and Epilepsy Nurse Specialist Layla. We are hoping to further develop and improve the service we offer for families based in the SE Thames Region.
I am delighted to have been asked to be on the Matthew’s Friends Medical Board and look forward to working closely with such an enthusiastic team!

Dr Williams is also heavily involved in research into Batten's Disease or the neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCL) which are a group of rare, progressive degenerative, genetic metabolic diseases that occur in children and adults worldwide. For more information, please visit the BDFA site:
